HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson is trying to get funding through a federal BUILD grant to repair infrastructure in the county. He says they can apply for up to $25 million, but if they get it, construction won’t start for several years. They hope this grant will allow them to complete three county projects, including laying fresh gravel on county roads.
“One other project would be all the little cites and towns that we have in Hill County that have pavement present day that needs to either be overlayed or completely redone. So the last project is a combined project that we’re looking at. We’re looking at Old Post Road and then, also, Taylor Road.”
Peterson says they will be holding meetings to get an idea about what roads people think are important.
“Throughout the coming month and a half, I’m going to have a multitude of public meetings. Some might be in a farm shop. Some might be here in the Courthouse. But, we need people to attend those meetings. We need people to get involved to understand what this project is.”
Peterson wants to see if this grant will allow the county to buy the equipment and have their own employees fix the roads, which would help them save money.
