Havre Cropping Seminar to be Held Tuesday at NARC

HAVRE, Mont. (NMB) – The Hill and Blaine County MSU-Extension offices will be hosting the Golden Triangle Cropping Seminar in Havre on Tuesday, January 8th. Hill County Extention Agent Shylea Wingard says this free event will start at 9 AM at the Northern Agricultural Research Center near Fort Assiniboine

“At lunchtime, at 11, we’re really excited because industrial hemp has been such a hot topic lately. And, so we’ve lined up a couple of local producers to come and talk about their experiences with hemp crops last year.”

Wingard says they will talk about weed management, herbicide resistance, and pesticide management during their afternoon session.

“We’re going to have four different specialist from MSU that day talking about different cropping programs. At 9 o’clock, we’re going to start with Cecil Tharp. And he’s going to talk about paraquat safety. And then at 10 o’clock, we’re going to have Jeff Rumney come and talk about marketing and risk management of our pulse crops.”

Wingard asks that people call the MSU Extension office at 400-2336 to make sure that they have enough food for the lunch. The cropping seminar will also be stopping at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall in Chester on Tuesday.
